The Red Barn, Holden, Massachusetts

Membership

Dear Friends,

We invite you to become members of The Friends of the Red Barn. Your membership will help us to expand our educational activities and to preserve the historic mid-19th century barn on Shrewsbury Street in Holden.

In 2000, real estate developer Clealand Blair began his subdivision project next to the Red Barn. To preserve the barn and to comply with the open space requirement of his Town-approved "cluster" subdivision, Mr. Blair transferred the barn and approximately seven surrounding acres, including a large portion of the pond beind the barn, to The Friends of the Red Barn.

Membership contributions and other donations have made it possible for The Friends of the Red Barn to repair the barn and care for the grounds. These projects are ongoing. While earnings from raffles and bake sales have helped us cover expenses for events and a substantial portion of our yearly insurance costs, they do not cover other items in our budget. Fund raisers and membership dues help pay for those items. Your membership will help us to continue our mission of educating the public about our agricultural past and of making the barn and its grounds a lively center for community activities.

We hope you will join us in our efforts. No matter what level you choose, your support is very important to us and to our town. Please note that The Friends of the Red Barn, Incorporated, is a licensed non-profit organization, so your membership contributions are tax deductible.
